160707-M-PQ336-003 MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII (July 7, 2016) —U.S. Marines and Japanese Ground Self Defense Force members conduct helocast training, July 7, 2016, at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. III Marine Expeditionary Force will conduct mission rehearsals of landing force integration with an amphibious task force during Rim of the Pacific 2016 along with partners and allies. Twenty-six nations, 49 ships, six submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in Rim of the Pacific 2016 from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships between participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
