WASHINGTON (May 17, 2018) - The Fiscal Year 2017 U.S. Fleet Forces Sailor of the Year Chief Naval Aircrewman (Operator) John Herrman, assigned to Patrol Squadron (VP) 16 in Jacksonville, Fla., meritoriously advanced to chief petty officer during the annual Sailor of the Year ceremony at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington. Herrman is one of four Navy Sailors of the year (SOYs). Throughout their weeklong visit to Washington, the SOYs and their families toured historic sites and enjoyed special events held in their honor.
