Ryan Crocker, former United States Ambassador to Iraq, met with Maj Gen.
Eddy M. Spurgin, Commanding General, 36th Infantry Division, and the division command group, July 8, to discuss the division's upcoming deployment to southern Iraq. The 36th Infantry Division will deploy approximately 800 Soldiers to oversee the drawdown of military forces in southern Iraq. During his visit Ambassador Crocker provided key leaders with his thoughts and concerns on the region. Crocker served as ambassador to Iraq from March 26, 2007 to Feb. 13, 2009.
