Description: Sequence of photos (025-053) depicting the deployment of the Telstar communications satellite from the payload bay of the shuttle Discovery by the STS-41D crew. The cylindrical satellite spins and rises past the shuttle stabilizer from its protective cradle in the space shuttle payload bay. Behind it is another closed protective shield. Heavy clouds cover much of the Earth in the background.
