A new member of the armored security vehicle (ASV)
Summary
A new member of the armored security vehicle (ASV) arsenal has joined the Georgia National Guard family. The U.S. Army M1200 Guardian ASV, or Armored Knight, is a laser-wheeled vehicle with indirect artillery and munitions laser guidance capabilities. The rollout was conducted during the 3rd Squadron, 108th Cavalry Regiment, 560th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade’s annual training at Fort Stewart, Ga., and was preceded by two weeks of intensive maintenance and operational classroom instruction. The foray onto the field gave the training team hands-on experience and familiarization with targeting provided by 108th Cavalry Regiment mortar teams for the ASV's calibration. Staff Sgt. Alan B. Danzig, and a contract instructor, walk through functions checks prior to firing exercises. The Armored Knight’s enhanced calibrations will redefine fire support effectiveness as a force multiplier in combat operations lasing. (Georgia National Guard photo by Army Staff Sgt. Tracy J.
