A recruit of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, makes his phone call home, reading only what is printed on the script in front of him, during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 7. Recruits will not be able to make another phone call until the end of recruit training. Today, all males recruited from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate March 4.
