A U.S. Navy landing craft utility transports Marines to the amphibious assault ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) during a ship-to-shore training operation May 7, 2012, at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The training was designed to familiarize Marines assigned to the Security Cooperation Task Force Africa Partnership Station 2012 ground combat element with specialized tactics for their upcoming deployment to Africa. APS is an international security cooperation initiative facilitated by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and collaborative activities in order to improve maritime safety and security in Africa.
