Alakanuk, Alaska, July 16, 2013 -- A water pump lays at rest after the Alakanuk Church was inundated during a major flood that affected the communities spiritual center and social hub. Federal funding in the form of Public Assistance (PA) is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain nonprofit organizations on a cost sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the flooding in the Alaska Gateway Regional Educational Attendance Area (REAA), Copper River REAA, Lower Yukon REAA, Yukon Flats REAA, and the Yukon-Koyukuk REAA.
