ARABIAN SEA (May 22, 2019) U.S. Marine Sgt. Michael ValentineWilliams, left, a cannoneer, goes over bite procedures with Cpl. Colin Watson, a military working dog handler, both with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), during a bite demonstration on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). The Marines, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Golf Battery, received the training to familiarize themselves with the roles of military working dogs and their handlers. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) are currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
