As part of a joint task force, Master Sgt. Timothy Kennedy, of the 40th Infantry Division works side by side with soldiers from the Australian army and a U.S. Marine in the Joint Operation Room during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011 at Kokoda Barracks, Queensland, Australia, July 23. Nearly 120 California Army National Guardsmen assisted in running the Combined Forces Land Component Command, which was responsible for planning and tracking all elements related to the land war during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011, a massive bilateral exercise aimed at improving the combat readiness and interoperability of the American and Australian forces.
