The Coast Guard Cutter Forward is deployed on a four-month patrol to West Africa in support of the African Maritime Law Enforcement Partnership
(AMLEP) mission, a branch of the Africa Partnership Station (APS), in an effort to increase resident host nation capabilities and to build maritime safety and security on and off shore. AMLEP is the operational part of APS in which African navies employ their professional skill, knowledge and experience to combat crime at sea.
