Col. Laura Clellan, Colorado National Guard’s land
Summary
Col. Laura Clellan, Colorado National Guard’s land component commander, prepares for maneuvers with a small unit support vehicle (SUSV) in Routt National Forest near Steamboat Springs, Colo., Jan. 28, 2015. Clellan served as an observer-controller of Soldiers who practiced rescue during real-life scenarios. Thirty-nine Soldiers from Colorado's Front Range participated in the training which included deep snow driving, wide-area search, winch recovery, cold weather survival and first aid, Jan. 26-29, 2015. Clellan was impressed with the exercise and the Soldiers skill implementing what they had learned. Soldiers practiced quick and efficient response through leadership, navigation, cooperation and planning using eight of the 10 small unit support vehicles (SUSV) owned and maintained by the Colorado National Guard. The annual training is an integral part of CONG's domestic emergency preparedness. Snow response training means CONG is always ready, always there when to meet the needs of Colorado and surrounding states. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Manda Walters/Released)
