In March 1918, the war relief committee of Barnard College opened, in the Columbia University Boathouse, on the Hudson River, New York, a canteen for soldiers and sailors. There are rooms for reading and games, and for the serving of simple refreshments. Relays of students, under the supervision of women of the faculty, are in charge every afternoon and evening. Photo shows some of the Barnard students in the canteen kitchen preparing refreshments for the boys.
