DOD center facilitates workshop in Central Asia
Summary
U.S. Army Lt. Col. Scott Maxwell, chief of the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation in Tajikistan (right), makes a point during the opening of the Peace Support Operations Workshop led by staff and faculty from the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. The three-day event in Central Asia addresses the political, strategic, operational and administrative challenges that must be resolved in making an operational capability to support United Nations-mandated Peace Support Operations. Marshall Center faculty and staff brought together representatives from the office of the Tajik president, committees of the parliament, the ministry of defense, the ministry of foreign affairs, the ministry of the interior, Strategic Research Center under the president and other pertinent offices.
