Summary
Dr. Rory Cooper talks to Soldiers at the Archery competition at the 2016 Department of Defense Warrior Games held at the U.S. Military Academy at West point, New York, June 17, 2016. Cooper is the founder and senior researcher at the University of Pittsburgh Human Engineering Research Labs (HERL), is a world-renowned expert in wheeled mobility and the pioneer in wheelchair selection and configuration. Dr. Cooper‘s success extends beyond science and VA research; he won a bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Paralympics in the 4x400-meter wheelchair relay and 4th place in the 10,000-meter wheelchair race. In addition, he has accumulated more than 150 medals in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games. The DoD Warrior Games, June 15-21, is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and Veterans. Athletes representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command and the United Kingdom Armed Forces compete in archery, cycling, track, field, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, and wheelchair basketball.
