During Operation AVID RESPONSE (OAR) Turkish children at the Red Crescent camp for earthquake victims in Digarmendere, Turkey, hang out with US Marine Lance Corporal Tim McCarty of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEW) on the back of a truck that brought tents to their camp. OAR is the US European Command contribution to relief efforts following the earthquake that struck about 65 miles east of Istanbul near the town of Izmit. Turkish officials estimate about 600,000 people are homeless
