EAST CHINA SEA (Jan. 13, 2020) Amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force amphibious transport dock ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003) operate together in the East China Sea. The America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
