Summary
Festival attendees celebrate a successful pass on the Neza Bazi track during a Nawroz festival held in the city of Sharan in Paktika province, Afghanistan, March 21, 2013. Neza Bazi or tent-pegging is a traditional Afghan game played by cavalrymen on horseback who attempt to remove a small wooden tent-peg from the ground using a lance or sword. Neza Bazi’s origins date back to the 4th century B.C. and were once used to develop cavaliers' prowess with the sword and lance from horseback. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Mark A. Moore II/Released)
