Jones Beach State Park, N.Y., July 1, 2013 -- NY Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have announced that New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation will receive $2.4 million in funding, about 90% reimbursement, from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for repairs to the 2-mile boardwalk. Work proceeded through the winter to repair the heavily damaged boardwalk at Jones Beach to get it ready for the summer season. The boardwalk officially reopened on Memorial Day weekend.
