JTWC Personnel Tour METOC Spaces Aboard CVN-70, USS Carl Vinson
Summary
Lt. Cmdr. Larry Gulliver, the QA Division Officer onboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) led Sailors, civilian personnel, and cadet and midshipmen interns from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center on a tour of METOC spaces and described the responsibilities of the deployed Strike Group Oceanography Team when operationally forecasting for assets in the Carrier Strike Group. LCDR Larry Gulliver and his AGs then toured the Joint Typhoon Warning Center to experience the tropical cyclone forecasting process and how JTWC contributes to resource protection across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. USS Carl Vinson is inport Pearl Harbor, HI, for the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise.
