Marine captain and Glendale, California resident is recognized for his leadership and cultural knowledge

Glendale, Calif., resident, Marine Capt. Armando A. Daviu was presented the Meritorious Service Medal by Col. Christopher McCarthy, commanding officer of Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group during a ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story, Va., Jan. 13. Daviu is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and is currently serving as a foreign area officer at MCSCG. The award is normally reserved for field grade officers and above but Daviu’s efforts while serving as a Latin American desk officer were above those expected from someone in his current rank.
