Summary

Members from Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Team Detachment 26, based out of Little Creek, Va., are retrieved by a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter after performing a routine exercise in the Mediterranean Sea. Members of the team are currently deployed with USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), which is conducting Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the region. MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment. MSO complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO help deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material.
