POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, HAWAII -- Pfc. Oscar Medina, a flight line mechanic with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, watches as a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter prepares to depart prior to an air assault training event at Pohakuloa Training Area, Sept. 3, 2017. HMH-463 carried Marines from India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment from Landing Zone Dove to Range 17, where they carried out platoon attacks with support from 60mm mortars and multiple machine gun emplacements. Exercise Bougainville II prepares 3/3 for service as a forward deployed force in the Pacific by training them to fight as a ground combat element in a Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
