Tibbets Jr., signs a copy of his autobiography "Return to the Enola Gay" for members of the 509th Bomb Wing (BW), Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB), Missouri (MO) in Columbus, Ohio. BGEN Tibbets founded the 509th Composite Group in the 1940s and piloted the B-29 Super Fortress Enola Gay that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, on 6 August 1945
