Riley Place - Fort Riley Friday

This Fort Riley Friday we take a look at Riley Place, a neighborhood that sprang up off Huebner Road in the 1930's toward the end of the Army construction program to replace temporary World War I structures.
The Riley Place neighborhood consists of brick duplexes built to house non-commissioned officers. The first duplex, Quarters 525, was built in 1930. It was the last of several quarters constructed around Main Post that year. Quarters 529 and 531 were added in 1931. Quarters 520, 523 and 535 were built in 1939 and are among the last of the permanent quarters built on Fort Riley during the Army construction program that began in 1927. Garages (Bldgs. 521, 527, 533) were added in 1940.
Riley Place today looks much the same as it did when it was constructed. Over time, the trees have matured providing a shady, tranquil atmosphere for the neighborhood.
