Description: Images showing the Tethered Satellite System 1 (TSS-1) in the payload bay of the shuttle orbiter Atlantis during the STS-46 mission. The TSS-1 is stowed in the satellite support assembly (SSA) mounted on an unpressurized spacelab (SL) pallet. The vertical tail and the Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) pods are also visible. The port side of the payload bay showing the TSS-1, an OMS pod and the Remote Manipulator Arm (081-082). A closeup of the TSS-1's Dipole-Field Antenna (083). A closeup of one of the payload bay's cameras (084). Several closeups of the hardware that will conduct research on Orbital Plasma Electrodynamics including two magnetometers (085-089).
