Sailors Celebrate Chanukah

FIFTH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (Dec. 8, 2007) Petty Officer 3rd Class Jesse Kopelman, Machinist Mate, and Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), Commanding Officer, Capt. Herman Shelanski sings from the Torah during a Chanukah celebration in the commanding officer cabin. Truman and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3 are underway on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Maritime Security Operations. MSO help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complement the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations. These operations seek to disrupt violent extremists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
