School children gather during a dedication ceremony of their new classroom in the village of Tadress, Niger, Dec. 12, 2019. Coordinated by members of the U.S. Army 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion CAT 219, Airmen deployed to the 724th Expeditionary Air Base Squadron Civil Engineer Flight, Nigerien Air Base 201, constructed the new classroom for the students. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
