Sergeant Shawon Burgess, mortar section leader, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and a native of St. Albans, W.Va., watches mortar fire impacts from a hilltop during a live-fire exercise at Range 410A at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., Jan. 19, 2014.
