Sgt. Dereck Joiner, an infantryman assigned to F Troop, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, performs self-aid by applying a tourniquet to his upper arm, treating a simulated wound while training with Lithuanian allies during Saber Strike 16, June 14, at Adazi Military Base, Latvia. Soldiers from the United Kingdom facilitated the exercise as American soldiers assaulted Lithuanian soldiers’ defensive positions. Saber Strike is a cooperative training exercise led by U.S. Army Europe spanning from May 27 through June 22 in locations throughout Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, featuring 13 participating nations. Participating forces in Latvia include service members from F Troop, 2nd Squadron and B Battery, Field Artillery Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, the United Kingdom’s corps of royal marines, and Lithuanian, Latvian, Polish and Norwegian armies.
