Staff Sgt. Bernhard De Vera, 373rd Training Squadron Detachment 5 instructor, explains the training maintainers go through to Charleston educators at Joint Base Charleston Nov. 7, 2019, as part of a continuing effort to strengthen collaboration between leaders from the base and local community. Approximately 40 district leaders and administrators, JROTC instructors, guidance counselors, teachers (grades eight though 12) and career developmental personnel visited the base for discussions on the importance of learning, inspiring, forging and transcending (L.I.F.T.) the connectivity between the base and educators. The engagement supported JB Charleston’s effort to collaborate with the local community and support students who are preparing to enter the workforce.
