Staten Island, N.Y., Jan. 9, 2013 -- A spray painted HPD and a red "Unsafe Area" or Do Not Enter or Occupy sticker posted by the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development mark the condemned home dwelling on Staten Island was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2013. The homeowners nearly lost their lives when the storm surge from Hurricane Sandy swept through their home on Staten Island.
