Steve Maragos is the first flood victim to receive a check from Pat Owens (left), Mayor of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Lynn Strauss, Mayor of East Grand Forks, Minnesota. They are endorsing checks to people living in the shelter on Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. An anonymous donor made a donation of $2,000 to each resident of the two towns. Many residents of the towns lost their homes completely when the Red River rose to 54 feet
