Description: Photographic documentation of Pilot Andrew Allen using the Portable In-flight Landing Operations Trainer (PILOT) simulator on the Space Shuttle Columbia's flight deck during STS-62. The PILOT simulator was being tested to verify that it would help the shuttle commander and pilot maintain the hightest possible level of proficiency for the end-of-mission approach and landing task on Extended Duration Operations (EDO) flights by strongly reinforcing visual cues over the temporal, proprioceptive, and otolithic cues.
