Description: Photographic documentation of STS-64 crew members working at the Shuttle Plume Impingement Flight Experiment (SPIFEX) controls on the Space Shuttle Discovery's aft flight deck. SPIFEX was designed to study the characteristics and behavior of exhaust plumes from Discovery's reaction control system (RCS) thrusters, in order to anticipate problems the RCS jets may cause regarding space stations. Includes views of Payload Commander Mark Lee at the SPIFEX controls (026); and Susan Helms at the SPIFEX controls (027-028).
