Description: Photographic documentation of Mark Lee testing the Simplified Aid for Extravehicular Activity Rescue (SAFER) during an Extravehicular Activity (EVA) on the Space Shuttle Discovery. The SAFER, a small and self-contained EVA crew member mobility unit, was designed to provide astronauts a rescue device and increased movement during spacewalks. Carl Meade is tethered to Discovery's payload bay.
