Description: Photographic documentation of STS-64 crew members testing the Simplified Aid for Extravehicular Activity Rescue (SAFER) during an Extravehicular Activity (EVA) on the Space Shuttle Discovery. The SAFER, a small and self-contained EVA crew member mobility unit, was designed to allow astronauts increased movement and a rescue device during a spacewalk. astronaut Mark C. Lee tests the new Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) system.
