Description: STS-87 Mission Specialists Winston Scott and Takao Doi conduct large orbital replacement unit (ORU) and ORU translation device (OTD) crane evaluations (DTO 671) during the first Extravehicular Activity (EVA) of the mission. The large ORU battery mockup is attached to the end of the OTD crane. Doi, standing on a port sill foot restraint (003-9, 012-13), controls the movements of the crane as Scott, standing on the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) foot restraint held over the starboard sill, adjusts the position of the ORU (001-2, 010-11). Scott, standing on RMS foot restraint, shortly after stowing the large ORU battery mockup on the starboard sill (014-15). Doi conducts OTD Crane stow OPS; Spartan on its Multipurpose Experiment Support Structure (MPESS) is in view (016-19).
