The US Navy (USN) Sea Wolf Class Attack Submarine USS JIMMY CARTER (SSN 23), sits moored in the magnetic silencing facility at Naval Base (NB) Kitsap, Bangor, Washington (WA), for a Magnetic Treatment (DEPERM) procedure which involves charging, or flashing, the ships hull with electricity to minimize its electromagnetic signature as it travels through the water thereby reducing its vulnerability to underwater magnetic mines. The JIMMY CARTER is the third and final of the Sea Wolf Class attack submarines
