Thirty-three runners take off at the start of the shadow

Thirty-three runners take off at the start of the shadow version of the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon at Forward Operating Base Delaram II, Afghanistan, May 20, 2012. This race took place on the same day as the Historic Half in Fredericksburg, Va. The Marines, sailors and civilians who took part in the Afghanistan race all finished and received official Historic Half t-shirts and finisher’s medals at the end of the 13.1 mile run. The men’s winner was Capt. Patrick Sullivan who finished in 1:37:21. The women’s winner was Navy Lt. Rebecca Murphy at 1:48:51.
