Three AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapons (JSOW) are staged in one of many weapons bays below deck, awaiting transportation up to the flight deck to F/A-18s onboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The JSOW is a precision-guided weapon that will allow naval aircraft to attack targets at increased standoff distances, greatly increasing aircraft survivability. It is usable in adverse weather conditions and will give aircrews the ability to attack multiple targets in a single sortie. In the background are three GBU-12 Paveway II 500-pound bombs
