Trainees turn their rubber raft around and head for home on the Yellow River during the water navigation skill phase of combat control training. Trainees learn to"read the river,"looking for strong currents and shallow water that can cause problems. Combat control training is conducted througout the year by members of the 1723rd Combat Control Squadron. The six-week course teaches the fundamentals of water and land navigation, equipment operations and survival skills
