Summary
Twelve U.S. Army soldiers of the 309th Mobility Augmentation Company, 863d Engineer Battalion, stand in formation after they were awarded Purple Heart Medals during a ceremony held at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. The 12 soldiers were awarded the medal for injuries they sustained in improvised explosive device strikes on their route clearance vehicles. The 309th and 863rd support Task Force Overlord in Afghanistan. The task force, led by the U.S. Navy Seabees of the 25th Naval Construction Regiment, is responsible for construction and construction engineering in southern, southwestern and western Afghanistan.
