US Air Force (USAF) First Lieutenant (1LT) Allen Specht, 30th Airlift Squadron (AS), Yokota Air Base (AB), Japan, walks toward his USAF C-9A Nightingale aircraft for the final time on this Sunday. The USAF C-9 served as the premiere medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) aircraft for the Air Force for 35 years was retired in July. The plane will go to the"boneyard"at Davis- Monthan, Air Force Base (AFB), Arizona (AZ). In 2002 the 30th AS flew 1,280 sorties with over 3,200 flying hours, airlifting more than 10,300 patients and passengers with this model of aircraft in the Pacific Region
