Justin Montgomery, commander of the 742nd Support Maintenance Company (SMP), South Carolina Army National Guard, is interviewed by Ivan Rodrigo Sanchez Ortegon Sept. 25, 2013, at the Baman Maintenance Base, Baman, Colombia. Ortegon is with City TV, a news network in Bogota, Colombia, documenting the work the 742nd SMC is doing with the Colombian army maintenance personnel. The 742nd SMC is sharing experience and exchanging ideas and techniques with the maintenance personnel at the Baman Maintenance Base as part of the State Partnership Program between South Carolina National Guard and the Colombian military. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
