U.S. Army Major Spencer Root, from the 130th Station Hospital, Heidelberg, Germany, gives American hostage Edward Austin Tracy an initial medical check-up aboard a U.S. Air Force C-141B Starlifter to be sure he is healthy enough to fly to Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany. Tracy was just released after more than five year's captivity in Lebanon. A U.S. Air Force aircrew from the 438th Military Airlift Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California, and personnel from the 2nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Rhein-Main, are participating in Tracy's transport.
