U.S. Army Spc. Amanda Wilson, 24, enlisted in the Army in 2010 as a signal support specialist and is a native of Orchard Park, N.Y. A qualified paratrooper, Wilson volunteered to attend airborne school to set herself apart from other soldiers in her advanced individual training class. Being airborne qualified led to an assignment with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team where she is serving in eastern Afghanistan as a member of the 173rd’s Female Engagement Team.
