U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Cody G. Gormley, commander of the guard with Heavy Helicopter Squadron 366, grips the back of a Marines plate carrier to provide support as he engages his target in burst mode during a day and night quick reaction force range aboard Camp Bastion, Helmand province, Afghanistan, on Aug 19, 2014. The purpose of the training was to familiarize the Marines with their equipment and prepare them to react to any possible contingency at the defense of the Bastion airfield.
