U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jeffrey Parsons and Lance Cpl. Evan Hountz, both riflemen with Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a live fire exercise while a Philippine Marine snaps a photo at Colonel Ernesto P. Ravina Air Base, Philippines, Oct. 8, 2017. Elements of BLT 3/5 are currently deployed in support of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, participating in exercise KAMANDAG. Bilateral exercises such as KAMANDAG increase the ability of the United States and the Philippines to rapidly respond and work together during real world terrorist or humanitarian crises, in order to accomplish the mission, support the local population and help mitigate human suffering.
