U.S. Navy Fireman Joseph Oliphant, assigned to the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard, fires a round on the hour from the Washington Navy Yard in remembrance of former President Gerald Ford. The Ceremonial Guard continued these honors every half hour until sunset. Ford, died Tuesday night at the age of 93 and was the first Vice President selected under the terms of the 25th Amendment following the resignation of Richard Nixon and is the only president to serve without being elected.
